“Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them;
for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” (Matthew 19:13-22)

Christ Church's Commitment to Youth

Our Mission is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in a way that helps young people learn  about their faith, understand Jesus' role, and provide a foundation for faith to grow in their hearts and minds.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School is open to all children from pre-school through Confirmation.  We meet at

9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings, between the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services, in the undercroft

of the church.  Our school year begins the Sunday after Labor Day weekend, and this year we

will have our last class on May 19, 2013.  We follow the liturgical calendar with our curriculum

Living the Good News.  In addition to weekly classes, we have extra events as well:  retreats in

the Fall and Spring, a Halloween Carnival, Christmas Pageant, Easter Celebration, special choral

anthems, and in the  summer we will have Vacation Bible School!

time when our youth can gather together, the young ones who are here and the

older ones who are away at college or in the service.  Merry Christmas to all!

YOUTH GROUP

Youth Group at Christ Church is for any student, grade 6 through 12 (usually after Confirmation),

and meets at 8:45 a.m. each Sunday in the undercroft of the church,

from the first Sunday after Labor Day until the last Sunday in May.

There are special outings and gatherings thorughout the year.

Youth Group members engage in spiritual and fun activities relating to Liturgy and Church views.  Currently,

they are focusing on the colors of the Church year.

This group actively fundraises for various causes, and each member manages his or her own community service project.

The Youth Group maintains their own garden on church property.

Annually, they host a Messianic Seder held on Maundy Thursday, a highlight of the year,

and coordinate decorating a large wooden cross with flowers donated by parishioners at Easter,

which is put on display outside  following the Easter Day Services.

Photos of the Easter Cross and many other traditions can be found on their Facebook page.
